Spa Suncourt Festival 2007 |
This year the Suncourt Festival is dramatically expanding to take in live music and DJs, as well as movies. Running on four nights in late July and early August, the festival combines some of Scarborough’s best young musicians with classic movies, all in the fantastic setting of the Spa Suncourt. Each evening starts with music and then, as the sun goes down, movies will be projected onto a massive new screen that fills the Suncourt stage. The first night pairs Ollie Banks with the original surfing classic Crystal Voyager, then comes Billy Nielsen followed by Billabong Odyssey – the search for the perfect wave. In the second week Matt Crossley is followed by Zidane (‘the greatest film ever made about football’); the final night goes sci-fi with Moonjuice providing the music and Blade Runner hunting down those replicants. ‘The Suncourt is an amazing space’ say co-organisers Rowan Oliver and RogerOsborne ‘the festival aims to reclaim it with some real creative energy.’ | | Spa Suncourt | Tuesday 24 July: Music: Ollie Banks followed by Crystal Voyager (1973) Directed by David Elfick
